You take ever smaller, ever slower steps; your blood pressure goes up another notch. You concentrate on your breathing: in – out – in – out. You’re almost there; almost at the cross which is your destination for today. The cross at the top of the mountain, to which you’ve been looking up again and again, wondering what it would be like to stand up there, next to it.
Mountains do something to you. They make you want to rise above yourself, go on adventures you never knew are locked inside of you. Your mind quiets down, everyday stress gets left behind in the valley and your worries seem less looming and important. When you come down from the mountains, you have changed. You are a different person!
