Be a Mountain Seeker!

As long as I live, I’ll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing. I’ll interpret the rocks, learn the language of flood, storm, and the avalanche. I’ll acquaint myself with the glaciers and wild gardens, and get as near the heart of the world as I can. ~ John Muir ~

Middelzware wandeling | Intermediate hike | Mittelschwere WanderungZware/moelijke wandeling | Difficult hike | Schwere WanderungAfter we’ve travelled through the Felbertauerntunnel (round-trip € 15 / car) to Osttyrol, we’re taking a valley taxi (one-way € 4,50 / person) to the Venedigerhaus. Once there we take of through an alpine meadow until we reach a crossing where we turn left towards the Glacier trail Innergschlöß.

Now we ascent 400 steep altitude meters until we reach Salzboden. We leave the Vendigerhöhenweg behind and continue along the trail that takes over beautiful boulders. During this tour Austria’s fourth highest mountain, the Großvenediger, keeps us company the entire way.

After we’ve reached the highest point in our tour (2,250m), we start a steep descent back to the valley floor. Of course, we’ll end the day on the terrace of the Venedigerhaus where we can drink in the gorgeous views of the Großvendiger a final time before returning home.
